My essays, journalism, criticism, and other writing have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, Alta Journal, the Los Angeles Review of Books, The New Yorker, Salon, Harper's, Wired, GQ, and many more. I am a Contributing Editor at Alta Journal, and a past Executive Director of the Writers Grotto in San Francisco. I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from Bennington College, and I teach courses in writing and literature at San Francisco State University, at the Writers Grotto, and elsewhere. I offer developmental editing and coaching services on a sliding scale, and my first book — The Second Life Herald: The Virtual Tabloid That Witnessed the Dawn of the Metaverse — is available from MIT Press.

I am also a member of the inaugural Capacity-Building Board of The Rumpus, and chair of my local town council.
